The Rapture

The Fundamentalist Christian doctrine of "the Rapture" is  linked as an event within apocalyptic narratives to the Resurrection of the righteous dead. The same verses,  I Corinthians 15:52 and I Thess. 4:14-18 , that provide Fundamentalist rhetors with the Rapture doctrine are the same ones which teach the Resurrection and posit the Resurrection as a basis for Christian hope.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet the dead in Christ shall rise and then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the air. So shall we ever be with the Lord.  I Corinthians 15:52
